VP, Business Development

Remote (US)
Sales
Full-Time

About the Role

The VP, Business Development will lead revenue growth for Attend and build the sales organization that sustains it. You'll open doors with teams, venues, and rights holders across NFL, MLS, NBA, NHL, NCAA, and beyond, into adjacent entertainment and live-events verticals, then structure the enterprise-level deals that turn those conversations into long-term partnerships.

This is a player-builder role. Success requires someone equally comfortable working a target account personally and setting the long-term direction for how Attend sells: the process, the playbook, and the team. The ideal candidate already has the relationships, has sold into sports and entertainment (ideally from the vendor or agency side), and is energized by building something that does not yet fully exist.

Responsibilities

New Logo Pipeline & Growth

  • Build and run a new-logo pipeline across professional sports, collegiate, and adjacent live-entertainment venues
  • Leverage your existing network to open doors quickly, then create the outreach cadence that scales beyond your own relationships
  • Identify, prioritize, and sequence target accounts and verticals as we expand into new leagues
  • Represent Attend at industry events, league meetings, and executive-level conversations

Deal Structuring & Partnerships

  • Structure and negotiate enterprise-level partnership and licensing agreements
  • Navigate front offices, procurement, and multi-stakeholder buying committees to get deals done
  • Develop channel and partner relationships that create warm paths into new markets

Build the Sales Organization

  • Lay the groundwork for Attend's sales function: process, playbook, qualification criteria, pipeline governance, and tooling
  • Recruit, hire, and lead the sales team as it grows, including setting the profile and sequence of the next hires
  • Set quotas, KPIs, and operating rhythms that create accountability and repeatable results
  • Initially carry significant quota and pipeline yourself while building the foundation for future growth

Go-to-Market Strategy

  • Partner closely with Client Strategy & Growth, Marketing, and Product to translate market feedback into a sharper pitch and roadmap
  • Help shape Attend's go-to-market approach, pricing and packaging conversations, and competitive positioning
  • Report on pipeline health, forecast, and market learnings to executive leadership and the Board
  • Travel is expected to be 50%

Your First 12 Months

Candidates tell us they want to know what winning looks like. Here is what we'll expect.

  • First 90 days: Learn the platform, our value proposition, and our existing client base, map your network against our target account list, and stand up a first-version sales process and pipeline
  • By month 6: Active pipeline across multiple leagues with enterprise opportunities in late stage, a documented playbook, and a defined plan and profile for your first hires
  • By month 12: A repeatable outbound motion producing qualified pipeline is functioning, and the first members of the sales team hired and ramping

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience selling within sports, live entertainment, or venue operations; vendor-side, agency-side, or team/league-side experience all count
  • An established network of relationships with team executives, venue operators, or league/rights-holder contacts
  • Demonstrated success structuring and closing complex, enterprise-level deals with multiple stakeholders
  • Proven ability to build or lead a sales team, process, or function, or a clear track record of readiness to do so
  • Strong negotiation experience with teams, leagues, venues, or strategic partners
  • Comfort operating independently in a small, fast-moving company with limited existing infrastructure
  • A bias toward action, paired with the strategic thinking to know which actions matter
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently

‍

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building a sales team from the ground up at an early-stage or growth-stage company
  • Background selling SaaS, ticketing, sponsorship, or fan-engagement technology to sports organizations
  • Working knowledge of premium seating, ticket sales, and revenue strategy & operations inside teams and venues
  • Existing relationships on the agency side (sponsorship, media, or consulting) that can open doors for Attend
  • A genuine passion for sports and live entertainment, and credibility when talking shop with front-office decision-makers

Compensation

Compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, and geographic location.

Benefits

At Attend, we're building something in a category that is still being defined, and we want our team members to share in that journey. In addition to competitive compensation, we offer:

  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Company 401(k)
  • Flexible PTO
